His philosophy, first and foremost, is to impart a love for playing music. He believes that learning an instrument should be a fun and joyous experience, no matter what the student's goal is; performance, teaching, or simply personal enjoyment.
Stephen is a multi-faceted instrumentalist and composer whose broad repertoire draws upon rock, classical, folk, country, Broadway, blues and jazz. As a professional musician, he tours North America, performing for discriminating audiences since 1968.
Stephen is an accomplished accompanist, studio musician and record producer and arranger. He has shared stages with such luminaries as Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger, Tom Chapin, Livingston Taylor, Jonathan Edwards, Emmy Lou Harris and Janis Ian, among others, and has recorded with numerous artists. In 2004 he released his first solo CD, and "The Twelve Guitars of Christmas".
Other credits include: community and dinner theatre orchestras; The Winnipeg and Kerrville Folk Festivals, the South's Largest Children's Festival, Woodstock and Madison Square Garden; and co-hosting a twice-daily TV show with Patricia Shih on Cablevision's "Tell Me A Story".
